“It does not take much to change the course
of a child’s life. Through the membership
and program scholarships we award to kids
we ensure a positive change is made and the
course is set on a bright future. The support
we receive through the Strong Kids
campaign enables us to make the
difference.

Kurtis Dawson, Executive Director
Help the YMCA Help Others
The theme for the Strong Kids campaign this
year is “My YMCA”. When we think back
about what “My YMCA” has meant to each of
us over the years it is overwhelming. We think
about the first swim lesson we had and how
nervous we were. We remember what it felt like
when we finally swam across the pool and the
confidence it built in us. Memories of camp and
good friends come to mind. “My YMCA”
makes us think about all the things that are
dependable in our lives from when we were kids
and today being a part of our kids’ lives. In
today’s world there are many things that are so
undependable, but the Y continues to be a pillar
in the community.
Serving on the YMCA board and being involved
with the Strong Kids Campaign we’ve had the
opportunity to realize how blessed we have been
to have the YMCA be a part of our lives. There
are still too many kids and families that miss out.
Thankfully, we have the opportunity to reach out
to those kids and families and open the door for
them to begin to build their own memories. The
Strong Kids campaign ensures the Y can
continue to award scholarships for memberships
and programs. “My YMCA” makes a
difference in my community. Please join with us
and give to the Strong Kids campaign and help
create the “My YMCA” experience for another
generation.
